Philip Clive Roderick Tufnell (born 29 April 1966) is an English former cricketer and television personality.
A slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler, he played in 42 Test matches and 20 One Day Internationals for the England cricket team, as well as playing for Middlesex County Cricket Club from 1986 to 2002.
Tufnell was known for his gentle appearance and his laid-back attitude, which often led to his being underestimated as a bowler. However, he was a very skilful bowler, who was able to turn the ball sharply and bowl a good line and length. He was also a very good fielder, and he was often used as a fielder close to the wicket.
Tufnell’s most successful period with England came in the early 1990s, when he was one of the mainstays of the side. He took 153 wickets in his 42 Test matches, at an average of 28.41. He also took 28 wickets in his 20 One Day Internationals.
Tufnell retired from cricket in 2002, and he has since become a successful television personality.
